Project Overview
The project was designed to build a prototype that simulates customer business process support using BAAN V. The prototype creation included tuning of a series of standard BAAN business process modules and user interfaces of the BAAN V full–functionality version. The tuning was done by the customer with the participation and prior advice from IBA specialists. IBA implemented customer business processes using the following BAAN subsystems:
- Common Data
- Distribution, Supply Chain, and Warehousing
- Manufacturing
- Central Invoicing
IBA has been a BAAN partner since July 2003. As IBA has its own BaanERP application server, the company is able to display and execute pilot projects, as well as train its team. Six IBA programmers received training at the Moscow training center of Alpha Integrator (Baan Eurasia) in the following areas:
BAAN IV. Basic Systems. Finance, Logistics, and Manufacturing (6 experts)
BAAN IV. Dynamic Enterprise Modeler (5 experts)
BAAN IV. Tools. Administration, Configuration, and Development (1 expert).
Project Execution
The project comprised the following stages:
- Project launch
- Defining prototype requirements
- Development of the prototype
- Adjustment of the prototype
- Presentation of the prototype to the customer management and leading experts
- Analysis and assessment of the prototype and preparation of recommendations (report)
For each stage, IBA prepared appropriate documents and reports. The customer developed a report concluding that the BAAN system suits the needs of the KRANEKS Machinery Co.
Project Results
The customer was able to evaluate BAAN functionality, train its team, and perform detailed risk assessment before the actual project implementation and at a low cost. In addition, the customer had an opportunity to discover shortcomings in its business process organization, which facilitated further development and enhancement of the customer's information system. Following this BAAN implementation, a number of Belarusian companies contacted IBA and expressed their interest in implementing BAAN at their enterprises.
