Belarusian Congress on Information Society Technologies TIBO 2005
On April 4, the 12th Belarusian Congress on Information Society Technologies TIBO 2005 opened in Minsk. The Ministry of Communications and Informatization, National Bank of Belarus, State Committee for Science and Technologies, Ministry of Industry, Minsk City Executive Committee, and National Academy of Sciences of Belarus are among the event organizers.
Vladimir Goncharenko, Minister of Communications, opened the plenary meeting. He read a welcoming address by Prime Minister Sergei Sidorsky to the congress participants and outlined the state policy for the development and regulation of the communication industry for the years 2005–2010. In particular, he said that Belarus holds the leading position among CIS and Baltic states regarding the number of telephone lines per capita (more than 33 main lines per 100 people).
Vladimir Zhukov, Department Head of the National Bank, spoke about the state and perspectives of ICT in the banking sector. Sergei Levteev, IBA CEO, delivered a report entitled “Practical Issues of Integration of the Republic of Belarus in the World IT Industry”.
Representatives of leading international ICT providers including Ericsson, Alcatel, Huawei, and Siemens will appear before the audience. In addition, the program of the congress that will close on April 9 includes the seminars “Perspectives for the Development of Mobile Communications”, “Modification of the State Governance System Based on Information and Communication Technologies”, “Information Industry of the Republic of Belarus”, “Specifics of Copyright Protection in Digital Space”, “Technological Solution for Informatization and Information Interaction of State Bodies”, and “Problems in the Development of Cashless Payment System for Individuals in the Republic of Belarus”.
IBA experts, namely Alexander Milai, Head of Automatic Control Systems Department, Sergey Sergienya, Head of Electronic Workflow Department, Vyatcheslav Kalyuta, Head of Internet Technology Department, and Valery Guletsky, Head of Internet Technology Department will present IBA's products and solutions at the seminars.
