Our customer is a leader in the production of mainframe database management systems.

Project Overview

The Adaptive Database System Enhancement (ADSE) is one of two concurrent projects performed in cooperation between IBA and the customer. Adaptive Database System (ADS), a major product of our customer, is known for superior reliability and performance.

The goal of the project is the enhancement of several existing utilities of the adaptive database system. The project implements the official change enhancement requested by the system's customers and therefore, the results will provide distinctive benefits to current users.

Project Execution

The IBA activities include:

  • Studying the initial task specifications prepared by the customer
  • Expanding the initial specifications to define how the required results will be achieved and tested
  • Development of code to provide the requested functionality
  • Testing of the new functionality and providing test samples to the test team of the customer
  • Reporting and fixing errors found by IBA in the customer's original code
  • Expanding the customer's product documentation to include new functionality descriptions.

Software Environment and Technologies:

  • z/OS mainframe operating system
  • Mainframe ADS database
  • Programming Languages: Assembler, Natural, XML, ISPF, JCL
  • Program Environments: TSO/ISPF, SDSF, ADS/Natural
  • Debuggers: XDC.

Project Results

IBA Group became involved in the project in 2007 and in the course of project implementation developed good partnership with the customer located in North America (Reston, Virginia, USA) that produces basic product requirements.

Currently, IBA is enhancing and maintaining the following two key ADS utilities:

  • ADAREP — Database Status Report
  • ADASEL — Select Protection Data.

IBA is continuously improving the product quality and reducing the number of customer complaints and field opened change requirements. Deep mainframe expertise and hard work allow IBA to achieve quality targets set by the client's management and to make customer experience pleasant when working with the customer's Adaptive Database System /Natural product family.
