Our customer is a major high–tech development corporation and an original equipment manufacturer for the automotive industry and many other industries throughout the world. As supplier, it plays an active role in numerous sectors, such as automotive, railway, chemical and petrochemical, and shipbuilding and aviation industries.

Project Overview

IBA has been participating in the project since September 2003. The IBA team comprises 10 people. The project is designed to migrate SAP R/3 Enterprise Version 4.0B–4.6B to Version 4.70. As part of an international project team, IBA provides release change support to 13 German companies (13 different SAP R/3 installations).

Project Execution

IBA performs the following tasks:

  • Customer functionality analysis before release change for each installation
  • SPDD/SPAU phases adjustments for all SAP components
  • Post release change customization checks and adjustments for FI/CO/SD modules
  • Customer SAP functionality checks and tuning after release change
  • Functional/technical tests of standard/customer functionality in 4.70 environment
  • System analysis regarding critical OSS notes implementation
  • Documentation preparation to track each step of the release change process
  • Technical consulting for customer team in critical cases
  • Technical support and troubleshooting for the customer–based upgrade process during go–live weekends.

IBA performed various tasks within the following SAP R/3 Enterprise functionalities:

  • FI — financing inventory
  • CO — Controlling
  • QM — Quality Management
  • PP — Production Planning
  • BC — Basic Components

Project Results

The customer launched the project to achieve budget reduction. In addition to sizable cost savings, IBA showed deep expertise and profound dedication that contributed to the common success. The project team received official letters of thanks from the management of all customer divisions that use the new system.
