IBA Group Creates AFC System in Tajikistan
On July 21, IBA Group and Avesto Ghurukh presented the results of their joint pilot project to Mr. Rustam Emomali, Mayor of Dushanbe, Tajikistan. The project is designed to create an automated fare collection (AFC) system in public transport of the city of Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan. The pilot project was completed within the shortest possible term of two months. The pilot project was performed in terms of cooperation between government and private companies.
The pilot project is based on the IBA Group’s hardware and software. The AFC system is currently installed in 29 buses and 28 trolleybuses that follow a traffic route along the Rudaki avenue in Dushanbe.
It is planned that further transition to electronic payment and control in public transport will be carried out in three stages. The project will result in the creation of an automated fare collection system that meets the requirements of the Dushanbe city and complies with the legislation of the Republic of Tajikistan.
In 2014, IBA Group developed and implemented the AFC System for public transport in Minsk, Belarus. The system covered underground (Metro), buses, trolleybuses, trams, and Minsk railway city lines. The AFC infrastructure includes card validators, paper ticket validators, onboard controllers, onboard computers, inspector terminals, POS and top up terminals, a card issuing center, and a processing center. Since then, the system has acquired a positive reputation among the passengers in Minsk. The AFC System was recognized as the best vertical solution of the year at the European IT & Software Excellence Awards 2015 by IT Europa.
