IBA Group Attends EOS 2018
From June 11 to June 13, IBA Group participated in the EOS18, the European Outsourcing Summit organized by IAOP, a leading global association that brings together buyers, providers, and advisors who are engaged in outsourcing, shared services, global business services (GBS), and collaborative partnerships.
Held in Brussels, Belgium, the event’s program comprised a conference, round table discussions, a tradeshow, and networking.
Debi Hamill, IAOP CEO; and Marko Kovacevic and Serge Librot, chairmen of the IAOP’s European Outsourcing Council, welcomed the audience. Business, academic, and government leaders delivered keynote presentations and shared their experience of real world sourcing projects.
The speakers and attendees drew parallels between Outsourcing World Summits that IAOP holds annually in the United States and European Outsourcing Summits, as well as between the perceptions of outsourcing in the US and Europe. Although the outsourcing industry generates huge revenues, they avoid using the term ‘outsourcing’ in Europe, replacing it with the terms sourcing, service or partnership.
The summit’s discussions focused on the key opportunities and trends of the European outsourcing market in 2018. The presentations’ topics included local/nearshore/offshore outsourcing destinations; tendencies, pitfalls and best practices of global sourcing; new ways to track and improve the effectiveness of customer communication; the value of trust in high performance sourcing, and sourcing in a digital transformation era.
The technology-related topics included Artificial Intelligence (AI), Agile and DevOps, Big Data, and Managed Services. The EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the new European cross border workers regulations were also among the issues that raised the audience’s concerns.
IBA Group attended the EOS18 as an exhibitor, meeting with potential partners and industry leaders, and participating in networking discussions. The IBA Group’s delegation and other attendees specifically appreciated the warm and home-like atmosphere that reigned at the event.
