Description

Our client is a major player in the railway transportation industry in Eastern Europe, focused on modernizing and unifying operations. The goal was to develop a scalable, industry-specific Human Capital Management (HCM) and Payroll (PY) solution that enhanced efficiency and supported the company's growth and adaptation to changing market demands.

CHALLENGES

The project faced challenges in automating Human Capital Management (HCM) and Payroll (PY) processes, particularly due to the unique demands of the railway industry. These included the need to accommodate daily wage rates, incentive-based earnings, and complexities associated with engine crew management. Additionally, the solution had to handle industry-specific reporting requirements, which necessitated a detailed and customized approach to ensure compliance and functional accuracy across all levels of the organization. This complexity was further amplified by the diversity of employment terms and conditions inherent to the sector, which had to be meticulously integrated into the new system to support a wide array of workforce management scenarios.

SOLUTION HIGHLIGHTS

  • Automated personnel administration and time management in accordance with railway domain requirements.
  • Configured payroll calculations for both daily rates and incentive wages, as well as for engine-crew particularities. The HCM solution was rolled out over the group of companies, with some roll-outs performed by the client with the help of methodological documentation and templates by IBA Group.
  • The initial payroll solution includes daily rates for engineer organization, which was then followed by incentive wages integrated with plant maintenance for the locomotive maintenance organization and engine-crew wages for the locomotive depot.

KEY RESULTS

  • Unified a scalable SAP standard-based HCM solution, with former methodological variations identified and aligned within a single strategy.
  • Put together data maintenance approaches and calculations.
  • Streamlined different user-type cooperation in cross-functional HCM business processes.
  • Outdated scattered software programs with limited support services were replaced with one SAP solution.
