Involving Vulnerable Groups in IT
On November 22, 2017, Sustainable Business, a leading edition in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development in the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), published an article entitled Involving Vulnerable Groups in IT. The article tells about the IBA Institute’s project on professional training for disabled people. The project was aimed at economic empowerment of vulnerable groups through training and support in employment.
In January 2017, the IBA Institute, a member of IBA Group, announced the launch of the project Personal and Professional Empowerment of Disabled People. The project was implemented within the Small Grants Program of the U.S. Embassy in the Republic of Belarus.
People with disabilities received free distance education in one of the following areas:
- Development of personal and interpersonal skills (soft skills) for building a successful career
- Fundamentals of Entrepreneurship. How to turn your hobby into a profession.
The program of the training courses included online training modules, webinars, development sessions, tutorials, and mandatory practical tasks.
In addition to the above courses, IBA Group conducted the trainings ‘Jump Start Web Design Using HTML’ and ‘Photoshop for Beginners’ for people with disabilities. Following the courses, IBA Group employed two graduates and today they conduct free training for disabled people at IBA Institute.
