IBA Gomel Celebrates 10 Years

August 1, 2011

On July 27, 2011, IBA Gomel, the second largest development center of IBA Group, celebrated its 10th anniversary in the Belarus Railway Sports & Cultural Center located in Gomel, Belarus.

IBA Gomel employees and colleagues from IBA Group HQ, IBA CZ, IBA IT GmbH, IBA Rus, IBA Minsk, IBA Mogilev, and IBA Novopolotsk, as well as representatives of IBM, SAP CIS, Gomelenergo, IDGC of Urals, and Gomel State University attended the festivities.

Igor Khobnya, Director of IBA Gomel, welcomed the audience and spoke about the company’s history, highlighting the contribution of IBA Minsk to its creation. He said: “The IBA Gomel development center was founded at the initiative of IBA Group. The aim was to take advantage of highly–qualified human resources of Gomel Region with its long IT traditions and universities providing education in IT specialties. It was only logical that the first project of IBA Gomel was implemented jointly with IBA Minsk and was intended for IBM.”

To date, IBA Gomel is the largest company in Gomel Region. It currently implements around 50 projects in mainframe, SAP, e–business, Lotus, and other areas. The IBA Gomel’s client base includes IBM, Goodyear, T–Systems, Rockwell Automation, Belarusian Railway, IDGC of Urals, and Belarusian Steel Works.

Sergei Levteev, IBA Group CEO, argued: “Ten years is a good milestone, when one can sum up the first results, when corporate and business traditions are in place, when the groundwork for the future is laid, when reputation of a reliable partner and a provider of innovative and high–tech solutions is earned, and when a well–deserved position in business is gained. Yet, it is a springboard for new victories, immense achievements, and continuous improvement.” Levteev wished IBA Gomel interesting projects, financial stability, and further sustainable growth.

Afterwards, the floor was given to clients and colleagues who underscored high professionalism of IBA Gomel employees, as well as their team spirit and dedication.

Prof. Alexander Rogachev, Rector of the Gomel State University (GGU), and Prof. Oleg Demidenko, Provost of GGU, thanked IBA Gomel for assistance in the education of IT students and awarded Khobnya a memorial medal of GGU, granting him the privilege to be the first in selecting GGU graduates for employment at IBA Gomel.

The second part of the celebration included networking, awarding winners of the Online Quiz and of the Miss IBA contest, lottery drawing, Barman Show, Bubble Show, Air Hockey Competition, Gladiator Contest, and Karaoke Contest, as well as a performance by the popular Belarusian music group J–MORS.
