A monitoring systems company offers automated shelf management services to café and retail clients

Client

AVS Services

Description

We worked with AVS Services, a company that provides video surveillance solutions for restaurants and stores.

Background

AVS Services’ customers needed help keeping their food displays full during business hours. Since they sell prepared meals, empty shelves hurt sales. But restaurant workers are busy helping customers and don’t have time to check what’s missing and restock displays.

Business Challenge

Our customer wanted to help their clients by automatically spotting empty spaces and tracking how they get refilled during daily operations. This would show when customers buy the most and help with better planning for staff schedules and food prep.

Solution

Most systems learn to recognize specific products and only find those particular missing items.

This project was different because the food changed constantly during service hours, so normal methods wouldn’t work. We built technology that lets Goods Checker identify all items in photos without knowing what they are ahead of time. This way, it can spot empty spaces no matter what products should be there.

Information goes to dashboards where managers can see what’s happening. We also created a messaging bot (mobile apps) that sends alerts to staff when certain food categories run low.

The system runs from a protected data facility operated by IBA Group in Prague, Czech Republic, and meets GDPR privacy requirements.

Results

The solution enabled AVS Services to give their customers a way to monitor displays and track how staff perform. Goods Checker provided insights like:

  • busy sales times during the day;
  • how full displays were when shifts started and ended;
  • changes hour by hour;
  • comparisons across different food types, stores, and areas;
  • problems that cause lost sales.

Display fullness during busy times went up by 25%.

Ongoing monitoring showed which food categories stayed properly organized and which ones often had problems. This helped managers figure out what needed fixing.

Staff also benefited because they now get automatic alerts when displays are empty, so they don’t need to check manually.

When fully working, Goods Checker helps AVS Services’ customers keep food displays stocked, boost sales, match food amounts to what customers want, and cut down on food waste.

The Goods Checker system is now running in real businesses and expanding to more locations.
