On December 8, the SAP Universities Alliance, BSU, and IBA Group shared the results of a two-week hackathon that aimed at creating digital twins for Belarusian enterprises. On December 8, the SAP Universities Alliance, BSU, and IBA Group shared the results of a two-week hackathon that aimed at creating digital twins for Belarusian enterprises. Students from the Belarusian State University (BSU), the International Sakharov Environmental Institute of Belarusian State University (ISEI BSU), and the Belarusian National Technical University (BNTU) participated in the hackathon.

IBA Group’s customers offered seven problems and the students offered four in addition. The hackathon concluded with a boot camp, where teams presented their projects. To create digital twins, the teams used equipment from the SAP Next-Gen Lab, including computers, 3D printers, and augmented reality (AR) headsets. All participants had access to SAP Cloud Platform and IBA Data Center services.

Gazprom Transgaz Belarus highlighted the usefulness of a digital twin of a field. This solution may solve the problem of agricultural management of the enterprise’s infrastructure. According to Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, the Internet of Things (IoT), computer vision, and RPA may now solve problems that used to be difficult or impossible to solve.

The winning team, GreenFieldSol, proposed a prototype of a smart greenhouse that can be managed based on predictive analytics data. The data comes from sensor readings. GreenFieldSol comprised of BSU Faculty of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science students.

The second place winners, a team named FPV, offered a solution for remote control of a harvester using AR glasses. PandaOne, a team that developed a solution for personalization of restaurant service using computer vision, took the third place. IBA has plans to help the student develop the most promising solutions further.

The jury of the hackathon included representatives of SAP, BSU, IBA Group, Gazprom Transgaz Belarus, and Belagrika. IBA Group assigned mentors to each team. The mentors selected ten strongest hackathon participants, regardless of the team’s result. IBA Group will offer jobs to these participants.

BSU, IBA Group, and the SAP University Alliances have been cooperating in Belarus for 10 years, training more than 700 students and conducting regular meetups and hackathons. In May 2019, IBA Group announced the opening of an innovative SAP Next-Gen Lab at BSU. The laboratory is a joint project of SAP and IBA Group, initiated by SAP University Alliances.

IBA Group is a partner of SAP University Alliances. Every year, the company conducts a training course entitled SAP Technologies for Digital Transformation.
