IBA Group Implements Tap to Phone for Visa Privilege Services at Airports
IBA Group implemented a convenient mechanism for obtaining airport privileges by Visa premium cardholders. The company implemented the Tap to Phone technology that enabled airport employees to use regular smartphones instead of bank terminals to validate Visa premium cards. Travelers departing from airports in Azerbaijan are the first to use the novelty.
Visa Platinum, Visa Signature, and Visa Infinite cardholders are entitled to free access to business lounges, free luggage packing, free drinks in coffee shops, discounts in duty free stores, and other privileges. Previously, it was necessary to tap a card to a special terminal (POS) that checked if the traveler is eligible for these privileges.
The Tap to Phone technology and the IBA Group’s tapXphone application that uses this technology enable a regular smartphone to perform POS functions. The application is completely secure for cardholders because all operations with confidential information are certified by Visa and other security schemes.

In the near future, we are looking to expand the premium services to new places”
The project took less than three months to complete. IBA Group is planning to expand the use of tapXphone for card validation to other airports.
